MRTs AND THE SOME
okay okay, i'm just going to push the stop button on the matrix thing - i've been talking about it 80% of the time.
yesterday was both international friendship day (as someone told me) and makati day (according to another person). naturally, there was really bad traffic and, of course, a lot (and yes, i mean A LOT) of people in the makati area.
it was a good thing that ivan and i tried out the MRT (before ivan starts to complain, let me just mention that it wasn't HIS first trip - there, are you happy ivan?). it was my first time to try it out so i was naturally excited. i just hope to god i didn't act like a camera carryingtourist with a triggerhappy finger.
fast trip. no traffic to worry about. until, of course, you reach your stop. the ayala avenue stop was crammed with people. it was literally a sea of flesh. it took us a longer time than the whole MRT trip to navigate our way through the station. i'm hoping like hell that the sea of flesh only appeared because it was either makati day or international friendship day.
anyhoo, i gotta get back to sleep. for two straight days, i've slept past 2:30 in the morning, and it sucks for a person who always wakes up at around 5 am. the eyebags have set up shop and seem to be here to stay. and right now, they're opening up new expansions.
RELOADED, IN SHORT: "GOD, I CAN'T STOP TALKING ABOUT THE MATRIX!"
hmm, looking at my previous posts, it would seem that i do nothing but complain about my inability to understand blogs. it's either i complain too much or i'm just so stupid i can't understand how simple blogging is. i hope to god it's the first one.
anyhoo, back to the matrix.
like i mentioned before, i watched the movie twice and i enjoyed every minute of it(well, actually, not every minute because there were some parts i could have shortened or done without but that's not the point). the end kind of leaves you hanging but as some of the matrix actors and actresses said, the sequel was actually a long movie cut into two: that is, the two installments after the matrix.
WARNING: if you haven't watched matrix reloaded don't read this entry -> SPOILER AHEAD

matrix reloaded got my friend and i thinking up theories on how neo was able to stop the sentinels in the real world.
theory # 1: if you noticed, there is a trend of love (somehow, that did not sound right) in the matrix series. in the first movie, trinity believed so much that neo was the one and he didnt die, waking up as "the one." in the second movie, there was, predictably, a similar scene where neo, when confronted by the "truth" (n the broadest definition of the world) as explained by the architect, tries to save trinity from dying (something supposedly impossible) but succeeds. the theory is that, through that specific sequence, neo starts to fully believe in himself as "the one" - "the one version" different from the five versions before him.
this makes all the difference so he was able to stop the sentinels. we have to remember that the architect also mentioned that neo was different from the previous "the one" versions because his program was utilizing something more specific: love. and since when has been a machine able to fully understand love (yes, the cliche that robots and machines are incapable of fully understanding love).
theory # 2: the other theory is based mainly on two things - the things the architect said and neo stopping the sentinels. for brevity's sake, i will assume that everyone reading this has already heard (and also understood) the conversation neo and the architect had.
that everyone is in a matrix within a matrix - that zion is essentially, also a matrix and that neo and all the others "free" in the real world are all still part of another computer generated world or matrix. the architect mentioned that should anomalies appear (and they will considering that that the system that the architect created systematically leads to a creation of such anomalies), they will institute several counters designed for such events: "the one" - everything was a lie and everything is a program. zion and the whole adventure in the first movie were just parts of a program that would eventually lead "the one" to the source, ulitmately fixing the anomaly (a system restore of some sort).
and since he is still in another matrix, he was able to stop the sentinels.
theory # 3: the last and (for me) the most feasible, was that when smith entered the real world (where zion existed), he created another anomaly that the machines were unprepared for. as illustrated in the two movies, the machines normally do not have problems with their "antiviruses:" the agents. agent smith, or should i say smith, was easily an agent that noticeably was starting to stray from the system (with the emotions he was showing in the first movie).
smith, as with programs like the keymaker, chose to free themselves of the hold of the source. in smith's case, although he was supposedly destroyed, his desire (similar to trinity's desire to make neo live in the first movie and neo's desire to save trinity in the second) to live and defeat neo transformed him into a virus-like program that can "infect" other programs.
the anomaly created when smith entered the real world allowed neo to feel something different about the sentinels and enabled him to stop them. this theory is also strengthened by the trailer of the third installment in the matrix series: the trailer hinted that in the third installment, there are now three major powers in the story: the machines, the humans, and, of course, smith.
of course, we could take each theory and combine them with another so we end up with more theories but that would just give me a three day headache. so maybe next time.
all in all, these are the theories we came up with (thanks to cam and raymond for all those discussions).
on a plus note, i have been able, to a certain extent, understand some of the html code and as such, make a link to a poetry page, which is still under construction. check it out if you want to.
right now, i have to go offline and rest.
i have a two hour headache.
WHEN BLACKOUTS AND STORMS COMBINE AND INTERNET PROVIDERS GO BAD
ooh, i think i get this blog thing already. check out the links (although ximulacra.com is still under construction, the bboys site hasn't been updated for quite a long time and i didn't post the exact url of the pinoy threads in forums4fans).
it's supposed to be really easy. i edit the template to put pics, to change the font (and the font size) and put links. the only downside to this is that i have to know and understand html if i am to change anything. the revelation kind of defeats the reason as to why i choose blogger - now i really have to learn html.
darn.
oh well, anyhoo, before i start raving about the matrix again like i did the last time, i just want to say that although i enjoy rain, i do not enjoy it when it comes with great strength and great abundance. it's been raining nonstop here in the philippines for the last three days and although i usually have no problem with the weather, i do have problems with brownouts, floods, the lack of food to eat and the boredom that keeps me company when i'm stranded at home.
i especially have problems with the brownouts. i work with a dial-up modem and sometimes it causes headaches because it's slow and because it's quite a hassle to connect to the internet. for the last three days, i have been having difficulties connecting to the internet because the internet service provider that i am using either replies that it is busy or that i should try my call later. i think all this rain just made everyone with the same ISP decide to stay at home and just log on to the internet the whole day. *blech* and at the precise moment that i finally get a connection (after around an hour of fruitless attempts and hopeless keyboard banging, which, i assure you, does not work), the power goes off (at this point, i would also like to mention that cursing, no matter how intense and sincere you are, will not get the power back on). and when it goes back on, the hour of failed connections effectively becomes hours (with an emphasis on the "s").
the words rain, rain go away, come again another day come to mind.
MATRIX RELOADED: I'M IN HEAVEN...WELL, ALMOST.
still having problems with this blog thing - now the problem more specifically lies in the fact that i have no idea how to fix the links thing and also add more stuff to the blog. quite simply, my blog is almost bare.
anyhoo, at least i do know how to post and that i will do.
it's been a few weeks since i last saw matrix reloaded and while i admit that the second movie in the trilogy is good, it's not quite as good as the first one - perhaps it was the been-there-seen-that-effect syndrome that got me but matrix reloaded just didn't carry the same clout as the first movie. i guess that's the price that the makers of the movie have to pay for introducing a new era in film - those gorgeous effects in the matrix that had everyone gushing. only a truly ignorant person will not expect such effects to be copied by other film directors and producers for their own movies. the matrix really started a revolution and the trilogy is paying for it. in the gap between the first and second movies, we have just been overwhelmed by an influx of movies with matrix influences. it then becomes understandable why the standards for matrix reloaded were high. people were just expecting something new after all the similar movies. that's human evolution for you.
i enjoyed the scenes with smith as he is easily one of my favorite characters, although his lines seem to sound cartoony every now and then. link is also another character i enjoyed seeing. is it just me, or are navigators always more animated than the other crew members? maybe a sense of humor is a requirement for becoming a navigator? *smile* maybe more on them next time.
moving on, i did noticed a mistake in the movie: in the part where morpheus stuck his blade to the side of the truck so that he could catch the keymaker. in that scene he just knelt down and stabbed the side of the truck. all good, right? wrong. the next scene however, showed morpheus having to jump down to stand on the hilt of the blade, which was now placed lower. morpheus couldnt have reached that low. and in the battle with the agent on the top of the truck, the blade is back to the original position morpheus first put it in (higher) - so he was able to easily retrieve it and battle the agent.
as of now, that was the only mistake i can remember and that's saying quite a lot about the movie. i enjoyed the movie a lot (watching it twice) and i don't intend to miss the third installment.
right now, the real world is calling out to me.
next time: more about the matrix reloaded from theories about the ending and rumors based on certain events. plus discussions on enter the matrix, pros and cons and its relationship with the the movie itself.
it's late already and i still haven't understood how this blog thing really works.
and it's supposed to be easy. this is quite embarrassing. oh well, i guess i just have to find out how this entire blog thing works so i can fix it up. maybe after i get to fix it up i won't have to make up a website from scratch anymore (hard considering i don't know crap about html).
back to the drawing board.
so this is how a blog looks like. this is the first time that i have tried one out. i mean, how could i not try it? most people at www.forums4fans.com have one, some of my friends have blog sites - i guess it's the "in" thing right now.
oh look a diary i can write about anything in any way i like, a diary where i can rant about how dry my wallet is at the peak of the season of hedonism and rave about losing ten pounds (that, of course, i would gain back in half the time it took me to lose them), an ONLINE diary that EVERYONE can see. an ONLINE diary that EVERYONE can read. isn't that kind of freaky? from a certain perspective, perfect for those people who just can't get enough of themselves.
*idea*
ooh, this blog thing IS fun.
